A Chromatic Etude:
An Etude in Chromaticism
After spending much time in the Pares Chromatic section, I decided to create an etude which employs the various mechanisms presented there. The etude is built entirely off of the first two motives, which run opposite each other. They play on the title of the piece, producing resolution by negation. Although the piece sounds to be in Bb, (and it is true that a majority of the piece stays within the Bb range), it delves into B for a whimsical little waltz. Because the beginning of the piece sounds in Bb, the half step movement produces a heavy dissonance which is resolved back to a lonely and grave Bb, halfway recapitulating to the beginning and resolving to the settled tonic. There is very little disjunct motion in the etude. The majority is in step motion, as is the Pares book. Anyway, enough, enjoy the Etude.

Harmonization
Here are some harmonizations I have done. They are very simple and are arranged in four parts. They are all free for you to download and enjoy.
I use www.NoteFlight.com as my notation program. Some of these arrangements may be listed as public. If you are interested to hear them, visit this link, or browse the public score database at NoteFlight.
Pattern 2.1
I wrote this on Sunday. I utilized the 7th edition of Music for Sight Singing by Robert Ottman and Nancy Rogers and selected Pattern 2.1 on page 14. I understand there is a direct fifth in measure 2 between the Tenor and the Bass. This is the first draft.

Fixed direct octave and made some parts smoother.
